We have hiked the Berner Oberland a few times, but it has always been on the Murren-Gimmelwald side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Each time we had hiked, we would look across the valley at Wengen, this town perched up on the most beautiful, green mountainside. It had been on our bucket list for a long time, so we decided to brave it with the babe in tow.
(Im writing about this over a year later, below is an excerpt from a letter to Bennett about our adventure:)
We took you into the alps to visit a town called Wengen. We drove out to Lauterbrunen in the Berner Oberland, and then took a cogwheel train up to Wengen. After getting yummy burgers for lunch, we rode a cable car up to Mannlichen, which is one of the peaks in this region. Up there, we saw a bunch of cows, just grazing along the path. Up in the mountains, farmers dont pent them up behind fences. These are happy, grazing, free cows, complete with bells and all. This is what makes it fun. We got so close to the cows, and I could tell you were a little nervous to get too close. After we saw the cows, we decided last minute to hike to the next peak. It seemed to be an easy path, so we just put you in the stroller and went gallivanting through the mountains! It was gorgeous! You handled it like a champ my baby! We even stopped at a bench along the way while I fed you. Probably the most beautiful setting to breastfeed in!
