Bennett's First Christmas

We all celebrated Bennett's first Christmas! I doubt he had any clue what was going on, but it was fun for us to see him react to the beautiful lights on the Christmas tree and the falling snow outside the window. We battled colds and stomach bugs, which made it hard to enjoy the whole month, but we managed to make some fun memories.

We went to a Christmas tree lot down the way and Andy picked out a beautiful tree. We plopped Bennett in his baby seat with a good view of the tree and his eyes just sparkled as Andy put the lights on. I look forward to many Christmas seasons that we get to decorate the tree together.

We also had Bennett's Baby blessing! It was a very special day. We had a lot of family come to support us and be there as Andy gave the most wonderful blessing to Bennett. Everyone came to our house after, which was pretty crazy. Our sweet little home doesn't accommodate the crowds too well, but we still managed to have a great time.

We went to Savior of the World, family Christmas parties, the Christkindlmarkt at This is the Place State Park, and watched our favorite Christmas movies.

Christmas Eve and Christmas day were pretty magical with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, but I think our favorite part of those couple of days was being in our house on Christmas night. We hadn't opened our gifts to each other yet, and we were saving it for this night. We lit the candles on our German Christmas pyramid we got in Heidlburg last year. As the wooden nativity figures spun around, we, especially Bennett, were all fixated on them and the patterns of light they made on the ceiling. Who cares about the presents, Bennett could have stared at this all night! I think this was my very favorite part of the season. Actually, this may be one of my favorite parts of being a mom--discovering things for the first time, all over again.

Andy and I exchanged our gifts. I got him a wight set and bench, along with some church shoes and goodies. But, as he often does, Andy trumped! He put together a start to my website! still quite a bit of work to be done on it, but he made me a website for my art! He also gave me a cozy robe, some gift cards and other goodies. Merry Christmas to us! Andy also gave Benny a swing to hang from the beam in the basement. Best gift ever!
