The next morning, we set off for Lyon, France! We have been trying to find a reason to go to this part of France, and it was a perfect day. Lyon is apparently the Food Capital of France;) Awesome!
Lyon has a beautiful old town, and even a funicular to go up the hill to see some Roman Ruins. I'll admit and speak for all, it was a hot day! It took us some time to find the ruins, but we managed to and then followed that up with some gelato! Jennifer and I did some window shopping, and then we all went to find a dinner destination. We found a cute little restaurant, and ate like the French. Four coarses! It was advertised that they served "Succulent pig's cheeks," that intrigued us enough;) Byron and I played it safe with skirt steaks, but Andrew was ambitious with his pig intestine filled with somethin crazy (tripe?), and Jennifer with kindneys in sauce with rice. Sometimes it is best to play it safe! But it was a memorable evening!

The next morning, we headed up into the Burgundy region in France. As we were on the motorway, we spotted a chateau up on a hill, so we pulled off for an impromtu visit in a beautiful mystery town! We drove through the countryside, and passed a beautiful canal and village where we stopped off to take some pictures. We then drove up to Chateauneuf, a gorgeous town and quite a splendid surprise! It just epitomized quaint, French charm. Words can't express how charming this was! We ate at a little outdoor cafe, and just soaked it in!

After Chateauneuf, we headed towards Semur-en-Auxois. Still am not sure how to pronounce that. We checked into the cutest hotel that Byron found, and then headed to Fontenay Abbey. It is probably the most famous abbey in the region, and it was really beautiful!

We returned to Semur-en-Auxois, took a walking tour of the town, and then finished off the day with another memorable dining experience! We found another cafe with quite the comical waiter! There was french 1940's music playing in the background, and a few older couples sitting nearby were just singing along throughout the dinner, not to mention the waiter waltzing around the room delivering beouf bourguignon to everyone! It was a lot of fun!

We had a restful night's sleep, and then headed towards Paris the next morning. It was here we had to say goodbye. We had such an amazing time with Byron and Jennifer and saw beautiful things! So happy they got to come and visit!
