September 13, 2014--Daddy's Travel Log
Andy
and Bethany had a meeting with the Stake President this morning at 9 am so they
got up first and were gone before we got up.
Andy was called to be EQP and will do a great job to say the least. He asked to stay behind and get organized
while we did tourist stuff so Bethany took us to the Farmer’s Market across the
border in France. What a fun thing. They sold all kinds of food, purses, Knick
knacks, wallets, carpet and other odds and ends. We bought some parmesan cheese, cashews,
grapes, honey, bread and dried tomato humus stuff to put on the bread. Zoinkers it was fun and good.

The
next stop was a little village up on the hillside overlooking Lake Geneva. We ate some of our acquisition from the
Farmer’s Market on a stone wall next to a church where there was a wedding to
be held in a half hour.

We finished our lunch as the party was building to start and walked back to a renowned chocolate shop called Tristan Artisan Chocolatier. It was a tiny place but famous throughout Europe. Apparently, Tristan makes chocolate for Spanish Royalty . . . and now the Pinnocks. As you walked in, there were samples of all kinds of chocolate you could imagine with nuts, coconut, pistachio, orange, various flavors of chocolate, yada yada yada. Samples, samples everywhere. I see now why they encouraged the sampling. The chocolate was not cheap. We bought not very big bags of samples for friends and spend a small fortune. I hope we can get it home. It is probably illegal in small countries it is so good. I got John and Nate some alcoholic chocolate for which they will thank me later.

After
Tristan, we drove to Audrey Hepburn’s home of 30 years and Tolochenaz cemetery
where she was buried January 24, 1993, in Tolochenaz, Switzerland. I didn’t know she spoke 3-4 languages
fluently and was the ambassador for UNISEF for a number of years. From there, we went to the
Vufflens-le-Chateau, a privately owned residence. Not a bad place to live. The hillsides were covered with vineyards,
corn and sunflower farms. A real
throwback to olden times.

We then slowly made our way back to the apartment,
stopping by Lake Geneva to take some photos.
There were actually people swimming in the lake. Buuurrrrrrrrr! Bethany was a great tour Guide and Emily
(Bethany’s affectionate name for their TomTom navigator) kept us on track. We stopped in Coppet along the water and took
some pictures out on the pier.

As we
arrived back we even were fortunate enough to find a parking space within ½
block of the apartment. Vou La!! A great
day. Andy did the wash while we were
away. What a good husband. Bethany and Mom fixed us a delicious taco
salad dinner after which we watched the Everyone Loves Raymond – Psycho Therapy
episode before hitting the sack.
