Day 2 in Gimmelwald! We ate breakfast, got dressed, and set out for our hike! Talk about a perfect, clear day! We hiked from Gimmelwald on up the mountain. Don't know that We have ever seen mountains more beautiful or majestic!

As we hiked, we just stared in awe at all the beauty around us. We found a bench on the trail, pulled out our stash of cheese, fruit, salami, turkey and bread and munched away! Shortly after, we approached this meadow surrounded by steep cliffs and snow. We stayed hear for awhile and just explored. Loved this place!
Andy and I hiked up to these cave-like divots in the side of the mountain where we found walls of stacked stones. What was cool was that there were water droplets falling in front of the caves. My camera couldn't quite capture them!

We decided to go on different trails and do more hiking and exploring. Andy and I backtracked a little, and then made our way further up the mountain. It was straight up for awhile there! We would hike up and up and say to ourselves, "That has gotta be the top!" only to realize there was another peak to ascend! We were so glad we kept hiking up though! Towards the top, we saw remarkable views. We were a little unnerved.....we were up REALLY HIGH!

What is remarkable is that all along the way, even high up, you come across barns and mountain huts. Some have been around for a long time! We wonder to ourselves how they got all the materials up hear without cars.....and why build huts this high up? It is one of the quandaries of Swiss alpine life. It was fun to come across each one, and even get to peak in!

Once we made it as high as we could go, we just sat on a bench, ate some snacks, and talked. We loved looking out all around us!

We finally made it down to Murren, where it wasn't quite as steep and we were almost done! Talk about a full day of hiking! We took the gondola down from Murren to Gimmelwald, and were happy to reunite with Natalie and Dave! We ate dinner at the hostel, took showers, and conked out! we were all pretty tired!
The next morning, we packed up and decided to end our trip by taking the gondola up to Schilthorn, the main peak just up from Murren. It was on this peak that the James Bond film
In Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed. It was a clear day down in Gimmelwald, but our hearts sunk a little when we realized that the gondola was going up into a cloud! Clouds=Limited or no View! Though we only caught slivers of the mountains through the clouds, it was so awesome to be up to high! The gondola ride itself was amazing!
Another highlight: BONDWORLD! Dad would love this! They have a little museaum up top dedicated to agent 007. We explored than, drank some cocoa and ate the rest of our snacks!

We came down on the gondola and explored the town of Murren for awhile, and then got our bags, headed down, ate some bratwursts, and headed back to Geneva. We ended our day with homemade hamburgers, brownie sundaes, and watching
The Sound of Music. I mean, you have to right?
We had a great time with Dave and Natalie! Amazing travel buddies and friends! An unforgettable trip!
