Preschool, Peach Orchards and Hikes!

September was exciting for Bennett! He started his first year of Preschool!!!! Bennett is attending East Millcreek Preschool with Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Jodee. He was a little bit nervous at first, but quickly came to love his new routine and meeting new friends.

Bennett's buddy Everett had his birthday party at the fire station! We all got a tour of the station and the trucks and engines. It was pretty fun!

 Another highlight of the month was going to my friend Katy's inlaws' peach and apple orchard in Alpine. Katy and her girls were in town to help with the harvest and the peach stand, so she invited us, Carly and her boys, and Brookie and her kiddos to come for a four wheeler ride through the orchard to pick peaches. Sooooooo fun! The kids were in heaven picking peaches, apples and raspberries. They even got to help put the apples on the "shiner belt" and put them in bags for selling. It is very rare that us ladies get together because we are a little spread out and have crazy schedules, so the day was heavenly. We finished off our visit with a yummy picnic!

 We really tried hard to do hikes as often as possible. It seemed everything was going against us this particular day, but we were determined! It took about an hour to get to the Bell Canyon trailhead due to the Salt Lake Marathon. Once we got there, it was dry and hot with a lot of uphill. Each of us got a bad case of the grumpiest. We still managed to enjoy being outdoors, but we were a little happier to get home and have lunch!

Our music class friends, Miss Ali, Jane and Reese invited us to the zoo! kiddos loved it!

Bennett's first field trip was to the Neff's Apple Orchard, which is right in our neighborhood! The kids got to pick apples, and we made some yummy applesauce with the fruits of their labors;-)

 (I think we did this hike in October, but oh well!) We wanted to redeem our last hiking experience by getting higher up into the mountains where it was nice and cool. We began walking around Silver Lake and then branched off to hike to Lake Solitude. The day was perfect and the colors were gorgeous! The boys were enamored by the Ski lifts above them and picking up rocks. The trail was a bit longer than expected, but we loved everything we saw!
