Netherlands Adventure

A few more work trips we need to squeeze in! Our trip to the Netherlands and Belgium were a lot of fun! We flew into Amsterdam, then took a train to Rotterdam. Having been completely leveled during the war, it has reemerged as a very modern city, with all kinds of architectural gems!

 After Andy finished up his work assignments, we decided to take a day trip to Antwerp, Belgium. It was definitely a more medieval city, but had an amazing church and a great shopping street. We also had some yummy greek food and got to see the home of Peter Paul Rubens, the famous Flemish painter. That was probably our favorite part!

Farewell Antwerp!

 Our next adventure was to see the Kinderdijk, a village outside Rotterdam that boasts the world famous windmills. It was soooooo cold today, but we had to see these! It is pretty fascinating to think the whole vicinity was water so many years ago. Technology is amazing!

 We were probably trying to do too much in one day, but Andy hadn't seen the gorgeous town of Delft. We were only about 15 minutes away by train, so we decided to go and visit! It was still pretty cold, but we had fun walking the town and eating some delicious pancakes at the coolest little hole in the wall restaurant. Love Delft!

 We had about a half day before we needed to catch our flight. Again, we probably tried to do too much, but we took a train to Haarlem. Once again, sooooooo cold, but it was pretty cool!

Why are we touring out in the cold again?!?!?
