Heidelburg Christmas Market

 Before setting off to Utah, we decided to see what a German Christmas was like. We heard Heidelburg was the place to go! After Andy did some work in Neuchatel, we drove up to Heidelburg. After a good night's sleep, we set off into the old town. The Old Town hosts three different Christmas markets, all of which were amazing! The colorful architecture of the town is the perfect backdrop.

 We wanted to see the castle, so we hopped onto the funicular and ventured up! There was a cool Christmas market right outside the gates, which was fun to walk through.

 We weren't able to tour the castle, but we did get to see the apothecary museum and the food hall--which house some very large beer barrels. Germans love their beer!

 We made our way down the hill and walked across the river to get a better view of the town. So pretty!

 We wanted to find a fun Christmas decoration to bring home with us. One of my favorite memories was lighting the candles on my parent's German Christmas pyramid.  The Kathe Wolfart shop was a Christmas decoration wonderland! I may have spent a little too much time in there admiring everything. Andy was pretty patient with me:) we found a beautiful pyramid which we will enjoy and love forever!

After the Kathe Wolfart shop, we brought our pyramid back to the hotel and then ventured out to find some dinner. We found a yummy Vietnamese restaurant and filled our bellies! We then enjoyed walking the town--very beautiful at night!

It was a fun day in Heidelburg! Definitely the place to go to get into the festive spirit!
