A blog post I forgot to publish back in August. Whoops! Dated August 16th.
We had quite the adventurous weekend. After work Friday, Andy and I drove to Bern to go to the Temple. It was really nice to be there. We met some nice people on our way out of the temple, one of which used to be a famous European body builder who trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger prior to his joining the church:)
We had made a reservation at the Temple hostel, so we headed that way after the temple session. Turnes out, things got lost in translation and our reservation was made for the previous night......and the whole hostel was booked with a few Italian stakes who had come all the way to Bern for a temple weekend. It was about 10:30 and we weren't quite sure what to do. The managers felt really bad and offered to have us sleep on some mattresses in the youth room down in the basement.......which used to operate as the bomb shelter. Pretty crazy! No worries, they turned on the bomb shelter ventilation system so we could have a breathable, peaceful night's rest (minus some youth trying to get into the room early the next morning:) Quite the adventure!
We had to check out first thing, so we grabbed some breakfast and snacks and headed over to Lauterbrunnen to see the Trummelbach Falls. Trummelbach Falls are ten glacier waterfalls inside a mountain. We took a tunnel lift up to the falls and walked up a series of staircases to see the different levels of the falls. What is pretty cool is that they are lit, so you can see the rock formations that have been carved by the water over hundreds of years.

After the waterfalls, we took a funicular train up from Lauterbrunnen, and then another train over to Murren. We love hiking up on these trails. We snacked on our yummy cheese, salami and fruit, enjoyed the views, and said hi to the horses and cows along the way!
